LABNEC

The Laboratory of Neurophysiology of Behavior (LABNEC), located at the Biomedical Institute of the Fluminense Federal University, was created in the late 1990s by Prof. Walter Machado Pinheiro, now a professor at the Rio das Ostras University Campus (PURO-UFF). It is currently coordinated by Professors Isabel Antunes David, Letícia de Oliveira and Mirtes Garcia Pereira, from the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at UFF. The laboratory has the collaboration of researchers from other national and international centers. The projects developed at LABNEC integrate researchers from different sectors such as behavioral neurophysiology, biomedical engineering and the clinical area with the common purpose of understanding how attention, emotion and the interaction between them modulate behavior. The laboratory has equipment for recording behavioral responses (manual reaction time), electroencephalographic, electromyographic, cardiac, respiratory and skin conductance (Read about Infrastructure). It also collaborates with the Radiology department of the Clementino Fraga Filho Hospital at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, making it possible to carry out Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging experiments there.
